MY FARM

More Than a Farm.
It’s Part of Who We Are.

A Family Legacy in Central Georgia Since 1918

Our family farm has been part of our story for more than a century.
Generations of our family have lived here, worked this land, raised cattle, built homes, repaired fences, watched seasons come and go, and done their part to leave the place a little better than they found it.

Come Take a Look Around

Words can explain the history of a farm. They cannot completely explain what it feels like to stand on one.

LIFE ON THE FARM

A Small Cow/Calf Operation

My brother and I raise beef cattle and operate what is generally referred to as a small cow/calf operation. We normally keep around twenty mama cows and a bull. Our bull is a registered Black Hereford, while most of our cows are mixed breeds with a strong Angus influence.

Most of our calves go through the local cattle sale barn just a few miles down the road, although from time to time we will sell a group directly to an individual buyer.

Chasing Sunsets

A Story Shaped by Real Life

This farm has influenced the way I think about family, loyalty, home, responsibility, tradition, and belonging. Those ideas naturally find their way into my writing. Chasing Sunsets is a work of fiction, but its heart is connected to the same things that have shaped my life here in Georgia:

Family. Humor. Memory. Resilience. Belonging.

Chasing Sunsets

“This farm isn’t just part of my history — it’s part of my stories.”

JOHN DEREK RUFFIN

Family. Land. Stories. Always.

Some Things Are Worth Keeping

A place like this doesn’t just shape where you come from — it helps shape who you become.
